It's not an easy task but not too difficult if you take your time.  There are required tools to fit it and shape it.  Measurements need to be taken for string placement and string height.  You can buy a nut that is close in fit but it will still need some work. There is quite a bit to it and the right tools will cost around $100US.<br><br>On the other hand if it is just discoloring you can remove the strings and clean the surface with 0000 (thats 4 0's) steel wool without going into the slots and it will come out pretty good. Just be careful of the wood surfaces.<br><br>NOTE: You could have it done for around $65US or so which generally includes a setup also.]]></content:encoded>

"Just fit" is the best.  Sometimes if the width is too wide it can cause a rattle.  Going from 54 to 50 will more than likely be OK depending on how over sized the slot was to start with.]]></content:encoded>
