The PRS SE (Korean manufacture, IIRC) have been getting very good reviews for some time now. And this line keeps expanding, now including the Santana, Tremonti (LP-like), a Strat-clone and a P90-bearing LP-junior type called the Soapbar. At around $400 USD, these are all supposed to be a real bargain and of impressive quality. Epi isn't bad -- and indeed produces some very good models even in the non-Elitist line (G400, Casino, Sheraton (II), Emperor Regent (Joe Pass) and some LPs, but it's my impression that $ for $, the quality of the PRS SE guitar line is better. I would risk mail ordering a PRS SE for $400, but probably not an Epi.

-Greg
