The hole was so small but stripped from the screw threads but not much wood material would fit into it. What worked for me was drum stick splinters. I stuffed the hole with several shavings off an old drum stick and then reinstalled the screw and pick guard bracket and the screw is in solid and the pick guard has no play in it now. Phew!!!

NOTE: I never had to use any adhesives of any type so I can back the screw out as needed. :D

Couple of ways to approach it, the more correct way and the quick fix way. The correct way would be to drill out the screw hole and glue in a length of wooden dowel the same diameter as the drill with carpenters glue (wood glue). Let it dry a couple of days then drill a pilot hole for the screw holding the strap knob. A quick fix would be to put glue in the stripped screw hole and then fill it up with wooden toothpicks and screw the strap knob back on. Wait a day or so for it to set up before you put any weight on it, this will probably not be as solid as the wooden dowel fix, but it might get you through. You might also be able to just use a larger screw if it fits your strap knob.
