I'm on vocals and lead guitar and he is rhythem (spelling?) guitar. Hopefully we'll be able to record It all in one shot together.
So far I'm recording guitars and vocals and my question is, why do you use Tracktion more? Is it because you do more Midi stuff?
Actually Sonar is probably better for Midi stuff, it has far better midi editing, although Tracktion 2 has helped a lot (but it's not available until at least May).

The reason I've pretty much switched to Tracktion full-time is it's just so fast and easy to work with. Whereas you can spend several minutes booting something like Sonar, adding tracks, setting up your recording sources, etc (by which time the moment of inspiration you had has passed), with Tracktion you can be up and recording in under 30 seconds. It's just incredibly intuitive to use, both for the initial recording and then for mixing, editing, adding effects, and so on.

Naturally it lacks features that the "big boys" have, but for recording guitars and vocals they're features you'd probably never use anyway. Apparently there are also issues if you try to make single recordings several hours long, but since that has been identified I'm sure it will get fixed.

I'd really recommend giving Tracktion a run - you can download a demo version from http://www.mackie.com/products/tracktion2/

There's also an excellent community for it at http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=22 although right now there's lots of people whining about the features they wanted in T2 but didn't get, so read it with a grain of salt.

Anyway I can help with either Sonar or Tracktion so if you've got questions, fire away.

G.

OK, I've had a listen to it now. Most of the trickery in this is just a simple delay with a high feedback setting, so you get multiple fading delays. Then it's all about getting the original sound you feed into it as you want it.

The "whooshing" noises are standard synth fare.

So yeah, I could reproduce this :)

G.
