you attempt was very good. you changed the rhythm pattern a few times, so your playing
was not mechanical. your fingers knew where to go and you looked relaxed. that is a good manner
for guitar playing. I liked your right hand string muting.
have you thought of using the back of your fingers for a downward strum? it livens things up and the listener has a little treat.

Regarding the alternate rhythm, I realized after I'd begun doing this that I'll likely not be able to use do it as I try and sing the song. But I guess if the lyrics are there, there's less need to throw in a different strum here and there.

I actually do use the back of my fingers for the downward strum. For the upward strum, I use the back of my thumb. Also, I forgot to mention in the original post: I think the tempo may be slightly slower than it should be. I tried to sing along with the video and it seems off when compared to the actual song. Just an observation....

I just took a listen and I think it sounds pretty good. The only thing that I noticed, and this may be intentional, but it stood out a couple of times to me, is when you are changing chords a few times you are strumming before you hit the chord and you get that hammer on effect on the bass notes of the chords. I'm far from a seasoned guitarist, but that's what it sounds like to me.

I've never played guitar in front of anyone but my immediate family (apart from an instructor or two). I've decided this, too, should change, both to help me improve (by playing with those who are better than me) and to solicit feedback. Which brings me to the reason for this post....

I've been trying to learn a song called "Me Llaman Calle" by Manu Chao. I can pretty much play it the whole way through, but I need to make sure I have it down before I can try to sing while strumming. I've uploaded a video to youtube and would appreciate any feedback on any aspect of my playing. My assumption is that I could very well be making mistakes which would jump out to a more seasoned guitarist.
