That's a neat story. Of course I'm a little biased about my daughter and her talents but I have two other daughters and the middle one sings very well, not quite as good as Tiffany and the yougner one actually is very good on the drums but neither of them really embrace singing or playing much so i don't push them. I'm just happy that they are healthy, normal kids that have never given me any trouble or done too many stupid things. For the most part they turned out well in spite of me being their father.

I would not have normally posted any of my own songs or Tiffany's either but the only thing that's holding her back is her lack of confidence and I was hoping that if I got some positive feedback here that might help her realize that she shouldn't be so self conscious about what she's doing.

She does here music as a hobby if you could even call it that, maybe less than a hobby. She doesn't really spend much time with it that's why i wish she would get alittle more serious. She actually had done some open mic's a few years ago but said that she started getting more and more nervous and hasn't done one in awhile. I practically helped raise her boy. he is taller than me know and could break me in two easy. he always liked listening to me play my guitar. when he became a teen he asked me for music to listen to. he wanted to expand . he liked my first wave rock so I bought him Deep Purple and Rush. both he loved.
next he jioned the school band and learn4ed he had huge talent for drums. we never played together tho.
next, the teacher gave him a bass. he took to it like a lab water. he asked me to show him some things. like how to play up the neck (he new the notes above the fret tweleve and thiose by the nut. I showed him a few things.
next week the teacher was blown away.
now he and his friend want to come over and record something.

Anyway, I tried to get them into basketball and soccer and Tiffany really excelled at both. She could easily have gotten a scholarship to college for basketball but just didn't want to do it anymore once she was in high school. I tried and tried to try and change her mind but it never worked.

I finally realized I needed to back off some and let her find her own thing. Turns out she's more the artsy type, likes music, painting, sculpture etc. Also really into design.

I've never pushed her too much with her music other than telling her she has a pretty good voice and she should go out and use it more. Thanks, I understand what you are saying. I think this is her voice though. I like the acoustic stuff better myself.

I'm trying to see if her and Arjen can work on something. She will not play covers (doesn't kno wany anyway) so I think between the two of them they could come up with something pretty cool.

As far as style goes, Ithink it's really important to go follow the path of sincerity. If singing in this way allows her to express herself best, that is the way she should sing. Experimenting is good but if it is a venture into unfamiliar grounds for the sake of trying something new, it may come off as insincere.

Thanks I'll let her know. I have no idea if those are minor or not nor I doubt she does either. She has never had a lesson or knows the names of any chord or anything she plays. A few of her friends in the past showed her a few things but she couldn't tell a C chord form a D chord.

I bought her a guitar several years ago and she just does what she does. She's mostly a finger picker.

Those songs, she wrote and sang, just as they are. If I remember they were done in one or two takes so there are mistakes in there.

I don't know much about music but are those songs in a minor key?

Ask her to listen to Joan Baez's "Love is a Four Letter Word" or "Diamonds and Rust" and see if she likes the songs.
I would love to hear her sing those, they suit her voice.
I could listen to those songs all day long and never tire of them.

Thanks I'll tell. I've been tring to encourage her for years to get out there and more. She the artsy one of th family and right now she's doing alot of painting. I am a painter too. I have a show up now. 12 oils.
