The guitar playing was great!

Hi Ken, thanks for the kind words. I normally sing when playing and have been for a couple of years. It's only recently that I've ventured into the stop-trying-to-hide my vocals world. This still isn't pushing them out enough, but inching closer. :D

Hi folks,

Another test song. I am trying to find my way around vocals and playing and will be doing so for some time. This song by the 'Stones is sung by Keith Richards on Voo Doo Lounge album and is quite obscure. If you've never heard the album or missed an episode of the Sopranos, you've never heard it before.

Anyhow, Keith's singing style is kind of raspy or rough. Some call it soulful, in a Rock & Roll sort of way. Any of my attempts before last week's breakthrough of sorts have been really awful. I used what I learned last week and tried to employ it here. I let the vocals out, or should I say, pushed them out some more. I also added a bit of breakup or growl to the vocals. This song is one of those that sort of calls for that type of vocal.

Anyhow, here it is. I really appreciate some feedback. There are several different variations of trying to be "soulful". I'd like to know what works (if any) and what doesn't.

Oh, adult content. One bad lyric at the 2:29 mark. Sorry. I also messed up the last line of that verse, but the rest was what I wanted to try out.

http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7669219
