What's strange is that I have another bit of software, Band in a Box and it's offspring software called "Real Band" that i really have no desire to bit-twiggle with. I like messing with it and have gotten a few good things out of it, but no desires at all to dig deep.
That new stuff you bought will really bring out your inner geek! I can't wait to hear what you do with it.
That makes two of us. I'm trying to figure out where to start.

I just want it to be quick and easy so I guess I will be under using Reaper's potential for a while. The actual recording, adding tracks and FX is very simple and intuitive. When editing waveforms though there are so many functions and options available. This is the part that will take me some time I'm afraid. I may not utilize it either as I am a beginning to end one complete take type of guitarist. Fix it in the mix isn't popular with me. Do it over is.

Click, hold and drag do desired position.
8: After everything is done, you can select all three item components and click on item/heal splits in items.

In Reaper, understanding the objects are key. Much of the nuts and bolts are done on the "Item" object. Here's the best way I can describe it. load one track. Record two small snippets back to back. We'll say these recordings are 30 seconds long. Use the Item/Split item on the second recording. What you have, at the highest and simplest level are 1-track, 2-takes and 3-items. The track holds the takes. The takes holds the items. When you split the second recording, you split the second take's Item into two smaller individual items. Let that soak for a bit. Once you've got that down, then you'll grasp the core of Reaper's object model and knowing at least which objects to work on and look up become easier.
