Well...? How do you like it?
Dan, sorry to take so long to get back to you. I really love the Zoom HD8 and am getting very comfortable with it now. I really do not have to consult the manual at all to make recordings. There are many features like MIDI applications and such I have not looked into, or using the software included for operation with a computer. I probably never will use these features. I just wanted a simple recorder that I could record quality recordings at home, and this recorder has surpassed my expectations. I am learning more about it all the time. Just this week I am finally learning how to create my own drum track for a song, so far I have used one single pattern for the songs I have recorded. But now I am learning to add intros and endings, and how to edit a pattern chosen. It is really not difficult to do at all. In fact, everything on this recorder seems very simple once you have performed the operation a few times. It was well thought out.

You can do about anything you can imagine. You can play your guitar into it and pick from many tones and amp simulations, you can edit them to get the sound if you do not like the preset as is (EQ, depth and speed of modulation, gain....)There are many drum kits you can choose from, bass guitar simulations, you name it, it is all here. I can't really think of anything extra this needs. There are even simulations of other instruments like organ for instance.

Anyway, I would highly recommend this recorder for someone who wants to make recordings at home.

I submitted a new recording called Wild in Hear Here, give it a listen. Very simple, but this is how I wanted this particular song to sound. I experimented with different effects, more complicated solos and such, but they ruined this song as I heard it in my head. I am very happy with this recording. I am working on a new recording now that is very exciting to me, I will probably post it next week. It is far more complicated than this last song.
