I have both the mixer and mic package you are talking about and I'm very happy with them. I use the effects more for the vocals but, I'll use the compressor from time to time for acoustic work (not much though). The effects are pretty strong, the EQ is great and again, overall I am very happy with them. The feedback detection works well too.

As Kalle points out, you will need the stereo "Y"-cable with two RCA male connectors and one male 1/8" stereo mini jack. You will be going out of the "tape output" (RCA L&R) and into the soundcard for now. The thing with soundcards is they are not designed for audio work of this caliper. They are more designed for gaming and such. I'm lucky as far as latency issues go, never had any problems there.

One other thing you might want to consider is an audio interface but, if you want yo can hold off and see how everything sounds before you drop anywhere from $150 and up for a decent one.

The only other thing you will need that I can think of right now is a "Pop Filter" for the vocal mic.

Have a good one!

Mike

Male and female and whatnot I dont really know which one is right haha. RCA cables like the red and white audio cables? The computer is pretty good like 2.53 ghz and i distinctly remember reviews on the motherboard saying that the sound card onboard was really great and you wouldnt have to buy a seperate one.

Hey I wanted to set up a home studio and i really dont know much about it. I want to record myself singing and playing acoustic. At some point id probably also like to record things like a harmonica, bongos, electric, and a pennywhistle. Im thinking I probably want a condenser mic. My computer has an integrated soundcard but it is a soyo dragon ultra motherboard so it is actually a good soundcard. I was looking at the MXL 990 for vocals and maybe something like the 991 for the guitar and other stuff. So I need a mixer with at least 2 mic inputs with phantom power for each. The Behringer Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO Mixer seems to have everything I would need for a good price, but again I don't know much about this. I also hear that you need something else between the mixer and the computer or else the quality will be really bad, any help at all here would be greatly appriciated. For a program I figure ill get something like garage band.

Ive heard of these other things that plug directly into the computer via the USB port but this supposedly causes lateny issues when recording.

Any product suggestions would be helpful, those are all just things that looked nice on musicians friend haha. Also if ive missed any major pieces of equipment let me know haha.

Also what cables will I need to hook everything up.

Thanks for any help in advance.
