Hilch.

When using LAME and audacity the only thing you have to do is link them. Not start them or try to run them.

Simply put, if you've downloaded LAME zipped or otherwise make sure you have the folder on your desktop with the files LAME supplies you in the folder. I created a folder on my Desktop and the files I downloaded for LAME are extracted (if zipped) and placed in there.

In my version of Audacity I click File, Preferences. An Audacity Preferences window displays. I select the third tab at the top which is File Formats. How you get there may change due to whatever version of Audacity you use. Either way, you still have to get there. Near the bottom of that view is a box labeled Find Library.

If you click that box it opens a dialog window. Click OK on that and you should have a browse option to find the correct dll. Browse to the folder that you put on your Desktop that contains the LAME files. You should be able to pick out the file and click OK or open. (I'm not following the procedure to the end as mine is working and I'm not doing anything to jeopardize that.)

After you've satisfied the search for the file everything should just work.

Let us know if the above steps fail at any point.
