Try buying the Rogue GS100R. I have one. It is perfect for beginning, great power, sound, quality; at a great price. I payed $179 BRAND F***ING NEW!!

It has 2x12" speakers. Twin channels. Reverb. Presence. Eq. Knobs. Footswitch jack. Headphone Jack. Effects Loop. Two Instrument Jacks (high and low). And some more stuff, that I can't really think of off of the top of my head.

It has F***ing muscle! It is inexpensive too! It pumps out lush sound, and if you feel like it, it will crush your skull with power. Especially for only $179. But you can only get it for that cheap at http://www.musiciansfriend.com I looked at the guitar shop I go to, and he offered me the exact same one that I bought, for $400.

A few features:
100 watts of high quality sound, and concrete crushing power
two 12 inch speakers that provide great sound
2 channels clean and overdrive
EQ knobs (high, medium, and low)
Reverb and Presence knobs
Channel switch button/jack
Effects loop
2 instrument jacks(high/low)
Sturdy construction
Great quality
and best of all THE PRICE!! Especailly for the quality.

This is truly the best 'cheap'(in price only) amp I have ever played. It is in fact the best buy you could make on a 100w combo amp. Especially if you aren't into spending a fortune. It may be inexpensive, but don't let the price tag fool you, you are getting something worth triple the price that you will pay. I am serious, buy this amp.

Buying Info:
Rogue GS100-R 2x12" combo amp.....somewhere between $179-$200 at http://www.musiciansfriend.com

These CRATE GX15,I will say is one the best compact, solid-state, rehearsal amp available. Feature's a 8" speaker and 15 watts RMS, includes two channels for clean and distortion tones, external speaker jack, and headphone jack. price I recall around 60 to 80 dollars each new. teamed it with a Zoom 505 pedal. around 70 dollars,wallwart/adaptor 20 dollars. They rock & Roll.

This is the set I use now and then, because all I have to carry is a Guitar in a gigbag over my shoulder, one amp in left hand and one amp and my briefcase(which contains cords,tunner,pre-amp,a mic & cord, tools, etc)in my right. I run the output of the 505 stereo into each amp, I have the amps set for clean sound,(because I get all the overdrive and/or distortion from the pre-amp). Then I mic one of them into the mixer. These little amps will push a 4x12 box without any problems.

I will say that 90% of the time I use other more expensive Tube equipment for doing larger venues. I do take a setup like this when I get asked to jam or play some party or small Honky tonk. Everything is light, easy to carry in and easy to pack-up at the end of the night. Over the years I've learned to analize the playing situation is see what would be the best to use. One reason: sometimes things can get out of control an equipment gets the bunt of it.

Hope this helps

Joe
