                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[I'm currently micing my 30 watt bass amp thru a 60 watt acoustic amp and loving the nice sounds (for bass).  I would not run my bass straight into the acoustic amp.  I played a 6 string thru my bass amp tonight and that sounded really good (with the bass amp being miced).  Turned the gain up and got a really nice bluesy sound.  I would recomend  trying that for those of you wanting to try something different.  I would imagine if you are going for a really clean sound, an acoustic amp would be good, but throwing distortion into it would not be the best sounding thing.]]></content:encoded>

In the interviews I've seen on this topic, producers are more apt to discuss types and positions of mics when recording acoustic instruments.<br><br>The pickups built into some acoustics are used for recording (also direct), but rarely by themselves. It's not unusual to use 2 or 3 tracks to record an acoustic (2 mics + pup), then mix later for desired effect.]]></content:encoded>

In fact, I suspect modeling DI boxes would work <I>much</I> better with an acoustic amp as compared to an electric amp.]]></content:encoded>

Their speakers are designed to handle and produce distortion as well.<br><br>Acoustic guitar amps are very similar to a PA. The amp and speakers are designed for a very pure undistorted signal. <br><br>I don't see why you couldn't play through it. I don't know if the speakers can handle distortion. Then again, I've played my guitar with effects and distortion pedals straight into my PA. Sounded and worked fine.]]></content:encoded>
