As for your audition, it's obvious that you and they were out of sync. They only wanted loud strumming steel-stringed guitars, not your elegant picking on a classical guitar. Next time, I would contact the administrators in advance and tell them what you need. All you require is a second microphone, no big deal. If that's too much for them, then perhaps you should reconsider whether this is a good fit for you.

Unless I hear an optimal sound quality while I'm performing I don't give a good performance. Hopefully next year I'll have a new guitar with the wireless pickup in the bridge. And that should solve the problem.

you say this arena doesn't allow amplification yet there is a PA system with speakers....

What we do in my church is I have an instrument mike directed toward the body of my guitar..the mike goes into the PA system, standard setup....we can adjust the sound levels but it isn't what I would call amplification. You may need to experiment a bit with the mike and your body position to determine what works best for you.

And unless you're playing with a bunch of other folks you should be able to hear yourself perfectly fine.....I play next to a piano and another guitar plus a bunch of vocalists and I can hear myself just fine.
