The Fender Bassman amp was designed for bass guitar, but guitarists found it to be great for electric. It turned out to be one of the best guitar amps of all time. Still making them today.

If your bass cabinet has large speakers like 15 or 18" then you'll get deeper tone. These speakers are designed to bring out the lows.

Make sure not to use a "Speaker Out" from one amp to another. That is an amplified signal and will damage the other amp. I don't see any problem if there's a line out, instrument out, or slave out on the guitar amp or bass amp. You could use a floor pedal that has stereo out and connect both amps to the pedal. Don't hook a speaker out to the amp input, this will cause problems. You could use an attenuator with a line out or bring down the db's enough to match ins and outs.
