You can get a behringer GMX 210 for around $150, or the GMX 212 for about $260( I have this one) . Nice tone for a modleing amp and plenty loud    ---the dog

Smokindog, I also have this amp (GMX 212), recently purchased, it seemed like a great deal. Do you have any tips or tricks for putting it to good use? Its a little intimidating. I just began playing along with my oldest son. I'm on an Ep. SG 400 and trying to get that signature
Angus Young tone, any suggestions? Thanks, Rick.
I use mostly the reverb settings, (2 0r 4) I like the tweed,hi-gain or hot and us settings, the british( Marshall) is good also. I play mostly Blues with a tele or a strat. I don't use a lot of effects, but I like the delay (20 all theway up)Good for country ( Luther Perkins would be proud :D ) You should be able to get some nice tone with the SG :D

Great tone will be heard everywhere even at low volume. At times playing pool parties I've pushed 4x12 cabinets to the edge with 15 watt amps and folks down the block wanted to complain but they understood.

Joe

As Ken I don't like the sound of the GX series much, the new GMX series is a whole different matter. But if you just want it to amplify your V-amp it should work well. Since you'll be skipping the awfull pre-amp and use just the 60W poweramp and 12" speaker I think you'll be getting quite some bang for the buck. I myself have the GMX212, again just as Ken, which is a bit nicer, being 2x60W@2x12" and having an acceptable tone of itself (and an AWESOME slide sound!), but it is priced a bit higher. Three times higher IIRC.

As always, try before you buy. That amp with your V-amp should be enough to play along with most sane drummers if you ever want to try that and should amplify the V-amp better since you can skip the preamp of the GX112.
