I don't have extensive experience with it, as it's my first true bass amp (I was using a Peavey microbass before) but it sounds fine to me. I wouldn't really know what to look for, though. There seems to be enough headroom, but not that much treble - then again, I'm running it at 8 ohms through an 8-ohm 4x10 rated for 300W; the head is rated at 4 ohms for 300W. The tone isn't super-clean, but I guess that's to be expected with a bass. It's not muddy, but it's not crystal clear. I can't use the ultrabass function, because I don't think that the cab can handle it, but for what it's worth, I like the sound and the amp itself. The head seems to be bulletproof.

Any opinions on the Hartke Transporter 4x10s? I got that for about $180. Would I ever need to upgrade or will this last me?
