Is that that Bumbox Fuzzwuzz I seem to recall you talking about? I've got a Bumbox Sally that I run into a closed back 1x10 with an Eminence Rajin' Cajun. I like it, though unless the kids are asleep I tend to end up using the line out to drive my Fender Frontman 25R with it acting as a pre-amp. Either amp, alone, isn't quite what I'm after but together they seem to really work great - the Sally gives the Frontman warmth and the Frontman adds some presence that I'm not getting out of the Sally.

I ended up getting the Big Muff and when I put it in front of the Sally it does sound sweet, without the Frontman in the mix. The Big Muff is an altogether different sound. It imitates the early "fuzz boxes" of the 60's. This was a pedal used by Hendrix. It is a very "dry" distortion for want of a better term.

So, I think the best way to describe them would be the Boss DS-1 is thick and creamy, the Big Muff is harsher, with far more distortion and fuzz.
