It just came from MF today :D :D :D
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Valve-Junior-Tube-Amplifier-Head?sku=482069
I hooked it up to the 12 inch 8 ohm speaker in my Peavy studio pro 40
The Junior sounds great, all the tube tone I remember from some of the small tube amps I had back in the early 70's. The thing is loud too At low vol. It sounds very clean and starts getting some mild distortion a little past 12 O'clock. If you crank it up all the way you be ROCKIN  . and its quiet with the strat switch in the 2nd and 4th position :D the only thing missing for the blues is a bit of re-verb but no problem, I just whipped out my Alesis ineko processor and added some nice digital verb to it :D ( any one suggest a cheap digital re-verb thats a bit closer to the old spring re-verbs?)I'll do some sound sample as soon as I have the house to myself, like I said, its really loud  --the dog
Congrats!
I use a VST called OldSkoolVerb from Voxengo. They have some great VST's for free and they also have some you can buy.
If your into VST's there is another site with GVST's. The G stands for the creator's name. They are also free and very good.
Congrats on the new head man. I've got the Valve Special Combo, so I know the tone man, it's great. The Valve Special and Standard have verb, gain, and eq.
But as I know it your a blues guy, so instead of getting the valve combo's, I would save up for the Blues Custom. http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=270&CollectionID=13

or garbage about me...
Lets just save YOU from the pain, ok?
What I do with my small tube amps is mic them and add effects post. Boss has good reverb pedal.

Mike what is VSP? Sounds like I should check it out :D But I'm really looking for a CHEAP pedal re-verb :D
Duffmaster/ forrok_ star-I am thinking of getting a decent tube amp with reverb ( $400-$800) Maybe the HRD, But I don't need a lot of watts as I will only ever play it in my studio or maybe a small club now and then. The Boss pedal looks good, but is a bit pricey at $149. Something like a Princeton reverb that I had as a teen would be great 8) Any suggestions on amps :?:
BTW I was playing my lap steel through the EVJ and it sounds like a mother fucker!I really love this little amp :D --the dog

A VST stands for "Virtual Studio Technology". In a nutshell, it's a plug-in that you use after your recording. You can fine tune any of the settings in great detail. It's like having all your pedals in your computer.
In your recording program folder (My Computer etc....) you should have a VST folder. Just save what ever VST's you want in the VST folder and activate them, then go into your recording program and they should show up with your EQ's and such.
This all depends if Audacity supports VST plug-in's. I'm not sure if it does, as I don't use Audacity.
There are quite a few free ones, the compressor's work great on bass lines.
Hey there Smokindog, glad to here you like your new Jr. I just ordered mine from a local dealer as they had none in stock so am waiting patiently. Let us know what you come up with in the reverb dept and how it works. I plan to plug my head into the 12" in my fender ampRobbie
The Danelectro Peanut Butter & Jelly Delay pedal can also be used as a Reverb pedal. I own one and no kidding, it sounds like Fender Reverb. Many buy this pedal for this feature.
This is a surprisingly good pedal.

Thanx for the recommendation Wes, just got off the phone, my dealer doesn't have a PB & J in stock but he now has one ordered for me. If it's as good as you say and you've never lied to me before! it will be exactly what I want.

I hope you will like it. And of course it is a pretty darn good delay pedal too. What is really nice is that it gives you the choice of long or short delay. The only negative you will read on this pedal is that it is small and the two switches are close together.
I will have to dig mine out tonight and give you the settings to use it as a Reverb. It really sounds great.
I often recommend Danelectro pedals to those on a budget. Of course you can get better pedals for 2 or 3 times the price. But for the price, Dano is great. I own at least 7 different Danos, not one of them has ever broken on me. I cannot say this about any other brand I've owned, and I've owned a lot. I have found them to be very quiet pedals that do not effect your tone.
It is funny, but it is Danelectro's great price that hurts their reputation. People assume they cannot be good because they are inexpensive. But read reviews for any Dano pedals and you will see that the vast majority of owners are very happy with them and often say they are BETTER than many other brands that cost far more. And I agree.
People do not realize that Dano has been around since the 50's. They know Rock N Roll.

I would appreciate the settings used for reverb. I did read some other reviews before I ordered and as you say some did complain about the small buttons etc. But overall really thought it was a great value. The small switches don't really bother me as most of my playing is in my home , small jams etc.so there really is no need for fast changeovers at present

Don't have the pedal available at the moment, but I am almost 100% sure that you use Short Delay and then turn delay time all the way down (counterclockwise).
But I will check when I get home tonight.
You can get some awesome Rockabilly slap echo and Surf tones out of this pedal too.

Yah, I was gonna get one of those. Not the head version. Ima get one and a lap steel for fun. They look awesome and a great price.

smokingdog, congrat's on the valve junior head, best money I've spent so far on gear (hey, what can I say, I was born cheap!). :D
Life's journey can be hard at times, but you have to realize that you are the only one with the power make it a worthwhile experience.
Wes , I'll check out the PB&J delay, sounds cool. I see that Danelectro has a reverb pedal also :D . I might check out a Ibenez tube screamer too 8)
I just tried out the lap steel on the EVJ, sounds sweet :D :D :D If I was to get a 8 inch speaker would I be able to turn up the amp and get the distortion with out shaking up the new neighbors  --the dog
