So you can run a 8 ohm cab off a solid state amp with a 4 ohm Speaker Out.

But with solid states you never want to run a cab with lower impedence than the amp. So you wouldn't want to hook up a 4 ohm cab to an amp that operates at 8 ohms. On most solid state amps you will see the word "minimum". Never go less than the minimum with a solid state amp.

Tubes amps can usually run a speaker cab rated a little lower or higher than the amp. But the best bet is to match impedence.

I'm not sure if it follows the solid state (hook it up to higher resistance and just drop the power) or the tube amp (use what it says or blow something up) rules.

The reason I'm asking is because I aquired a Fender HM 412A cab (works at 8 ohms parallel or 16 stereo), and I'm considering hooking it up. If it won't work, I'll find another 8 ohm 412 cab and hook them up together before I try anything out.
