One (among many) nice things about the '65 Deluxe reissue is that it is only 22 watts (Though very loud! Don't be let me be misunderstood.) versus the 40 watts of the hot rod deluxe. It is going to be very clean at most usable volumes. But it is all tube with good fender brand tube spring reverb and a nice retro vibrato channel. A lot of people seem to feel the original Deluxe is one of the classics. It's also expensive at $800US (though maybe not for what it is).
But ( to repeat the guitarnoise mantra) check out the blues jr and pro jr Fender amps as well. Many think that the blues jr is destined to become a classic. It sounds great clean, and at 15 watts you can drive it a bit.
If anyone has had a chance to play an Epiphone Galaxie 10, a 10 watt amp I've read favorably compared to the Blues Jr., I'd like to hear about it. I've been playing these other amps for a month now and I need to break down and buy one.
