And yes, the EQ felt noisier with the power supply. But for where I am now with guitar (noodling and practicing, trying to get some tone and start thinking about what it takes to play lead..), I think I can live with the noise. If/when I get to actually playing on stage or recording stuff, I will plan to use batteries.

I havent found a AC box that is quiet to power up my pedals.

I got the Danelectro EQ pedal and the footswitch for the VOX on friday, and got to play around it with a little bit over the weekend (not quite enough :-))

First of all, I can get a pretty nice tone out of the amp with just the EQ pedal. I can make it fuller in the mids, and add some more bite to it as well. I'm mostly using the Tweed 2x12 (Fender bassman?) model in the VOX.

The real nice surprise is the footswitch for the VOX. It makes the amp a lot more fun! I can click in an effect (like reverb) for just a few notes and then switch it off again real easily. I think this will help me use the amp a lot more effectively.

I am still playing around with the Zoom to get a good combination with the EA. I am modifying the L-BLUE setting; made the built-in EQ flat, and then I can click the external EQ in and out, and get some interesting tones. Need top play with it some more; I have to figure out how to turn one of the modules (like MOD) off completely. I know it's possible because some of the presets have that module off, but I can't seem to get to that position. I guess I need to read the manual more carefully.

I've also played around a little with a high distortion in the amp and the EQ, but partly I am not quite sure what tone I want there, so I will be working more on the bluesy tone and a rhythm channel where all the effects are in "bypass" mode.

I thought the EQ pedal seems pretty well built, even though it is plastic. I wish they had included a separate power switch that would completely turn it off. I left it off on saturday, and when I came to play sunday, either the cat or one of the kids had stepped on the switch, and drained the battery. Basically, there was no signal to my amp. Luckily, I had ordered a power-all power supply; I was thinking of returning it because I thought the EQ pedal may not be that battery hungry, but after this experience, I am keeping the power supply. I went baqck to my basics.
guitar, compressor, Tubescreamer, EQ , vol pedal delay amp.

you'll find the EQ to be quite a versitle pedal.

the reasoning: you can shape the sounds you get from your Zoom pedal.
you can leave the Zoom pedal off and use the equalizer as
a treble boost.

treble boost is where you have your equalizer set to your tonal liking but the output knob is a bit higher than the guitar vol knob.

so your jammin away and it's time for your solo, hit the EQ and you'll be out in front sound and tone wise. finish your lick and click off the EQ.

EQ's are nice as they can alter and fine tume your tone. that's why I like mine after the effect.
same thing with my delay. it's the last in my pedal train after my vol pedal.

general rule:

guitar/ compressor/sound effect/time effect/amp.
