Amps do make a difference on these guys. I have a 15r at home and it had quite a bit of hum so I took it back. There was some cold joints on the tone control and volume, they redid those now it sounds better but still not as good thru DSP.]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[there preety reliable guitars as far as swithching the pickups i would go on different settings on your amp and mess with the volume/tone knobs on the guitar if you dont like the sound then start looking at new pickups. with my expirences with squires has only been with strats but i have found if you do alot of crazy solos with alott of string bending you might want to get new tuners on it(i would suggest grover if you really dont want it to go out of tune and you have money to spend you could get a locking trem)]]></content:encoded>

Depending on what amp you have at home, changing pick-ups may not make as big a difference as one might think. I'm sure I've read comments to the effect that playing a good guitar through a cheap amp will only result in mediocre sounds. Â <br>If there's a guitar shop nearby you could experiment with some different amps. If neither fiddling with your home amp nor a more expensive amp makes much difference, then I'd guess a change in pick-ups is called for. <br><br>I'm sure someone will correct me if the above isn't logical Â :)]]></content:encoded>

                        <content:encoded><![CDATA[...and give it a little time before you satisfy that desire to tear out the original pickups.  <br>     I bought a mexican tele last year (for a song, so to speak) with the idea that it was cheap and comfortable and I could just buy some decent pickups after a couple months.<br>     Well, as it turns out, I've had so many complements from other players about how sweet she sounds... and I've learned a bit about how to squeeze those sounds out... that I wouldn't change a thing. (except maybe those sticky string trees...)<br>     Play with the switch, twidle the knob, and find what sounds nice.  If you still don't like the sounds then you have no choice but surgery.  (Though I'd love to hear how she sounds with a p-90!)]]></content:encoded>
