If neither fiddling with your home amp nor a more expensive amp makes much difference, then I'd guess a change in pick-ups is called for.

    Well, as it turns out, I've had so many complements from other players about how sweet she sounds... and I've learned a bit about how to squeeze those sounds out... that I wouldn't change a thing. (except maybe those sticky string trees...)

he may charge you a little extra, but from first hand experience squiers are shipped out of the factory a little too quickly for my liking.
