Hey everybody,

I've had a 10W practice amp for the longest time, but I'm about ready to move on to bigger and better things. First off, I listen to mostly rock music with a little grunge and punk mixed in: Better Than Ezra, Tonic, Nirvana, Green Day when I'm in the mood.

Anyways, since I'm still pretty new (9 months) to guitar but plan on sticking with it (maybe even starting a band one day) I was thinking about a tube head - something reasonably priced like a Marshall AVT50-H or similar.

Along with that I'd need a cab, but I don't think I'll need a $400 4x12 cab in the forseeable future. If I do I'll bite the bullet, but right now I was wondering if you guys think a 1x12 cab would do.

Also, since I listen to a pretty wide variety of music as listed above, I was wondering if anybody could give me some pointers on what FX pedals I could use to get close to those sounds with only one amp. I have a distortion pedal, a good wah, and a delay pedal on my wishlist right now. Any others?

Sorry for being so long-winded, but here's the summary:

Marshall AVT50H - yes/no? Others comparable for the music I like?

1x12 Cab - will it be ok with the above-listed head? If so, what models to look for? If not, what alternatives?

FX - what pedals to maximize range of sounds I can get, given the above music tastes (or distastes as the case may be)?
