Back in the 70's a co-worker sold me a Fender Bandmaster head with a 4 X 12 cab for only $100. Thing is, the amp did not work. But I took a chance and bought it anyway. I took out the chassis and right away noticed a burned resistor. Luckily for me I could still read the color code. I went down and bought a resistor for about $1 and soldered it in. The amp worked great. Some might say there is a reason the resistor burned, I didn't care, I never had a problem with it, used it for years. I traded that head and cab to a friend for an acoustic guitar a few years later. Wish I had kept that amp, they bring big dollars today. Joe I went back and checked everything again and I think (Knock On Wood!!) I got it. I took the amp apart again but this time plugged it in and turned it on. I took a PLASTIC pen (not the tip but the back of the pen) and poked at some of the connections to see if I got the static. It turns out it was one of the wires (for those that know about computers it looks like the flat IDE cables for hard drives) wasn't pushed in all the way into one of the circuit boards. It would be easy to miss because it looked like it was on fine. I have had the amp on for about 3 hours now and so far so good!! 8) 8) 8)

Any ideas where I should look next? I am assuming it may be something on one of the circuit boards but I am not sure.
