Thanks for the warm welcome!

I probably won't get an electric until I start making some progress. I signed up for lessons through a local shop(guitar works, Evanston IL) so we'll see how it goes. I think it's going to be tough because I have sort of a wide range of musical taste, like as dirty and distorted as Greg Ginn and clean and melodic as David Gilmour or Walter Becker. When I was a kid I played(drums) in band with amazing guitarist who played Fenders, I figure a Mexican Strat would be good quality and versatile when I decide to pull the trigger.

oh, and a little metal mixed in too. :D

Hi all,
I'm a newb.....
I've owned an accoustic for about 4 years and dug it out last week and started plinking around. Then I googled "easy guitar songs" 3 days ago and guess what I found! Well here I am, as someone who spend teen years as a drummer I was around guitars quite a bit and learned some basic chords, and that's where I've always been with it. The "Horse with No Name" instruction really opened my eyes up to strumming and rhythm. So I'm starting to feel that hardened numbness on my left fingertips that from daily use and now I need some more direction. I'll be poking around here quite a bit and will more than likely impose my humor on the masses. Great forum here; helpful, encouraging members. Last night I said to my wife, "I think I'm going to learn how to play guitar" and meant it; I've been surfing eBay and guitar Center for electrics already......this could get ugly

Thanks in advance!

Nick
