Hello everyone,

My name is Ryan. I'm a huge gamer who spends loads of time gaming. I am also still a student, so I do indeed study a lot. I love metal/heavy metal music, and this is the reason I wanted to start learning electric guitar.

I am new to this forum, and to any guitar forum so I think it would be a good time to start explaining about my music life, would it not?

I have never played an instrument before except for the flute for 1 year when i was 7 but i don't remember a thing about it anymore, so please do forget it.

I started music school this September and just recently, i had to remove myself from it and not attend its classes anymore. It was forcing me to study for it's music notes exams and I have actual exams at the same time. I explained to them that this is insane and impossible, and little did they care.. So I took the somewhat smart decision of simply saying that I want to unsubscribe myself from their school. The problem is : My electric guitar teacher is a part of that school, so I cannot attend his lessons anymore too now. But I already was somewhat sick of him, and the way he tried to make these piano notes they teach us at music school and singing look so important. I don't want learn piano notes or how to sing, god dammit.

My father has decided to not let me get a private teacher until next year. It is quite a shame, but I will have to try my best on learning it myself for now. And actually, I have no idea how. My guitar teacher thought me just how the bluestone ladder works, and how to hold my guitar in the matter of 3 months... (I think this makes it understandable why i never liked him). And he also never really kept up with how i was preforming and just quickly showed me what he wants me to be able to do by the next week.

So now, I am pretty much wondering what I should do. I have always had the intention of just using guitar as my hobby but my music school behaved as if I intended to become some ultra professional music teacher.

So in short : I don't know where to begin, and how to begin. I don't know a single thing except for how to hold my guitar and how to hold the plectrum. I don't know any chords their names or anything at all. I have no idea how to play any song, simply nothing.

Can anyone assist?

Regards,
Ryan
