Hello there! name's Harlen (not my fault), been playing for about 25 years and am astonishingly mediocre considering all that time :D

But seriously, i played in a couple of bands when i was younger (college parties, local bars etc.) but i was a commercial lobsterman and between breaking my fingers pretty regularly and working 100 hours a week my playing suffered tremendously so i pretty much stopped practicing altogether. I got out of that line of work around the turn of the century (love being able to say that) and went back to school, and have been a network engineer since...playing a little here and there around campfires or whatever. The last year or so i have been bitten by the bug again, and playing has become almost an obsession, but now there's a difference. Dunno if it's age or having kids or what, but i want to know the nuts and bolts of it now; want to be able to sight read and jam in any kind of style rather than just the classic rock/blues riffs and improv (pentatonic all the way all the time) i always did in the past. the difference is i don't feel the need to know it right this second...I am looking forward to the learning process as much as the playing, and have a serious desire to start playing acoustic at local coffee shops and such.

Well, I'll stop typing now...thanks for having me here!
