In keeping track of the neighbors of GN I noticed this weekend that we surpassed 13,000 members.....again.
I had posted in August that we'd hit 13,000 and we did again this weekend.
Is that Deja Vu?

Somebody is watching me....
We had a bunch of users that had registered but never confirmed the registration, almost 800 of them. Some were due to multiple entries, invalid mail addresses and of course spammers and bots. I deleted them last weekend. Now I just keep up with the list on a daily basis so that won't happen again.
Thanks for keeping up with that, Nick!
It's a full time battle keeping the spammers weeded out, but nobody wants to see that trash.

I sorta figured that was the case based on the incredible list of juvenile delinquents that have been posting naughty's of late. :D
Thanks, Nick. Sometimes ya just gotta get some recog for a job well done.

The anti-spam justice is swift and merciless, and it's a beautiful thing. Thanks, Nick!

You are welcome. Thanks for alerting me when you see it too.
The mods all send the spammers names to me when they pop up. Most of our spam lasts less than 10 minutes on the board.
We are looking at a new mod for the board that will not allow you to post a link in your posts or signature until you have made 10 posts. That should help.
thanx again for all you guys do and congrats to GN once again

As the ever watchful eye turns....
So does the ways of our lives...or something like that.
I just noticed we crested 14,000 users.
I bet that even included deleting the druggies. :D

And we've now got 15,000 members.......
If we all played the riff from "Smoke On The Water" at the exact same time.....
Would your nearest GN neighbour hear?
Would it constitute some kind of record?
Would it create a Tsunami?
Who'd play the bass?
Would Bish play drums or guitar?
Would Ricochet take that slide off his finger?
Would anyone notice?
would anyone know it's Gm for the verses?
:D :D :D

Hey Vic,
It might shift the world slightly off it's axis by a thousanths of a degree and it might then put a stop to all this global warming and give the polar bears some ice to walk on again.
Ah! but I dream in vain because all those amps that GN members will be using at the same moment would eat up so much power and create even more greenhouse gas that it would offset the gains made by the shift.
We are all doomed Captain Mainwaring! doomed all doomed! (well known phrase from "Dads Army" forthe benefit of our multinational GN friends)
But seriously Vic, what a lovely thought mate. It would be case of "Come On Feel The Noise"
I'll shut up now!

Would Ricochet take that slide off his finger?
Not likely.
Would anyone notice?
Probably not.
would anyone know it's Gm for the verses?
Probably not.
Hey, have you ever tried tuning to Gmin? Low to high, DGDGBbD. Cool slide tuning! Would work fine for SOTW. With a slide. Just need to move the basic riff up two frets on the bass strings if you want it in the original key.

Vic,
Gm for the verses...Hmm I've never seen/heard it played with a Gm

I saw it written that way years ago.....G, Bb, C/ G, Bb, Db, C/ G, Bb C/ Bb G for the intro, then Gm and F for the verse...then C, Ab, G for the "Smoke On The Water" bit....
Sounded good to me, so I've always played it that way!
