Next week I'll be glued to the TV for the first 20-20 Cricket World Cup - it's a much shortened form of the game, where each side has to slog as many runs as they can from 120 balls per innings. Each side has just one innings, so the whole game takes about 4 hours or so! A normal one-day international is a fair bit longer - 300 balls per innings. A Test Match lasts five days - minimum 540 balls per day.
Imagine a baseball game that's all over in three innings and you'll get the drift!
The Rugby World Cup has just started - I was glad England won it last time, but to be honest the game doesn't normally register on my radar. Rugby League is a much better, much faster game - ask one of the Aussies on this forum, I bet most of them agree!
All this talk of sports is distracting me from my guitars.......

Have fun Vic, i hope your team wins.
One more look at my post count and some of the threads before we slip into the new improved GN

Yeah, I'm keeping track of MY post count - it went down yesterday. Seems the Games & Trivia forum has been cleaned up.....
And as for teams winning - well, Saints (St Helens) will finish the regular season as top of the league (Rugby League), which proves they've been the best team this season - so why do we have to go through all those stupid play-offs betwen the top six teams to have a grand final? Saints have already won the Challenge Cup - that's a knock-out trophy with no seeding, just the luck of the draw who you play. They're the holders of every trophy it's possible to play for - so why do they have to play extra games to prove it? A couple of injuries to key players, one bad game, and you're consigned to history as also-rans - here's hoping that particular scenario doesn't happen again, like two years ago, when Saints romped away with the league, but injuries to three key players deprived them of a first-choice team for the play-offs!
Oh well, like you said, here's hoping for a new super-duper improved GN forum....
FINGERS CROSSED!

Steelers crushed Browns today! (American football!)
Just checking myself!

We're back!
There still may be some bugs. Let me know if you come across any and I'll squash them.
Very flash. 8)
I swear I can smell fresh paint, and a touch of that 'new car smell' too....
Cheers,
Chris
Looks good!
Probably I have to get used again but I prefered the old skin. The new is nice but... too many information.

Pretty smooth sailing on this end... :)

Looks good, but I think I also prefer the older skin...this one seems a bit overwhelming, plus the user name on the right side of the screen seems a bit ridiculous - why change something that has been a forum software standard for such a long time?
Well, it looks like the system made it through the upgrade/maintenance, etc. I lost about 200 or so posts on my count, so I get to pass 1,000 posts twice! Don't care much for the new format/look - I wonder if it is possible for me to select viewing the forum using the "old" look? Can this be set in the options?
This is a great great improvement over the previous skin.
Looks very smooth and artistic. Goes perfectly with Windows Vista.
Kudos to Paul for putting in so much time to make these forums what they are today. The forums are so cool now that it almost seems like a professionally designed scheme. It looks like a paid forum seriously. So another big thanks to Paul for providing and maintaining it free for us. (Besides the great GN site).
Keep it up :D !
WOO--HOO! We're back in business! I like the new look - I suppose it'll take a bit of getting used to, but it was worth it!
And I didn't even suffer withdrawal symptoms! Well, not too many...........

Great job Paul! :D
