I would have to say that just about every guitar of my generation was
influenced by The Ventures at least a little.

Always loved their music - a lot of music from that era, really. I still regularly dig out and play songs like the two mentioned above, and Tequila, and Apache, and Telstar, and....I could go on and on. Even got a version somewhere of the Ventures doing the theme to Hawaii Five-O! And one of the Shadows doing the "Thunderbirds" theme....

Don Wilson, the band's other co-founder, tells The News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash., that Bogle became ill over the weekend and died Sunday.

The band sold millions of albums and heavily influenced other rock guitarists. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.


When I was a kid, my Dad had a lot of instrumental record albums. He bought one of the Ventures' albums and I was hooked (still am). Recently, I have been trying to learn "Walk, Don't Run" and "Pipeline."
