Coach almost killed with a fungo bat at that field one day. Important game for us, he was coaching 3b, which never happened, and someone missed a sign or something. Me and another kid started laughing at how mad he got and the next thing I know, this fungo bat comes flying at us. We ducked and missed. Made a loud noise on the polished big-brick dugout.

Is there still a big dip behind Short Stop? Last time I was there, it was still there. I can't imagine professionals playing on that track. They must have really spruced things up for the game. I played there and at the old Durham Bulls ball park where Bull Durham was shot. I can dine on that for the rest of my life. I don't think I got a hit at either place. :cry:

And then the girlfriend who wanted me to bring her there for a daring mission of, um, pitching woo. I confess, I was nervous. Cold too. Winter sucks.

I learned to ride motorcycles on all those roads around town. It got too crowded since I lived there. Even in the summer it used to be quaint. Now it's just as busy as can be. Just as well, though. The country and town need the dough. Word has it, that Deborah Harry's adopted parents, or foster parents, ran the bakery at one time right off the corner of Main Street.
