Both of those movements came out of Britain and were / are highly influential on music following them.


Or the 70's art rock bands -

Genesis (particularly with Gabriel - after he left they slowly slipped in bland pop-dom over about 3-4 albums)
King Crimson
Klaatu (who were thought to be the Beatles under a pseudonym)
Jethro Tull


For guitar based bands surprisingly not mentioned were Led Zeppelin, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac (before he went mad and they went pop), John Mayall's Blues Breakers, or the Jeff Beck Group (or any of the other combos fronted by Beck).
