I tried a Grainger 'valve junior' today while trying out the stunning deal sound control are running on the Vox cooltron pedals (more of which later). Took my own guitar along, tried said pedals into a shop AD30 (nice) and the VJ. It was lovely - fairly clean up to around halfway round, then some lovely smooth breakup, which responded really well to the guitar volume knob. Using the volum/pickup selection and amp volume all together offered a LOT of versatility and I was very impressed. Then I tried adding the pedal to the mix and was sold......sadly, didnt get the amp - space dictates I can really only have one amp hanging about but I got the pedal - a Vox Big Ben overdrive, lots of lovely warm gain. Another bargain - £29 for a brand new cooltron 8) (UK readers should check out the soundcontrol website - big clearance on at the minute).

Im having a good think about that 5W amp now....

Are you looking at the amps in Sound control? as far as I am aware they are, as has been stated, rebadged Epi's. I think Im going to have a look at one of the 'valve juniors' soon. I also believe the Harley Benton GA amps from Thomann are essentially epi's too but with a cream tolex cover and a tone control, and even cheaper than the Grainger (£70 for the 'junior'). Its awfully tempting....
