They were look-alikes. Look closely - no way in the world are they the real Beatles. They're not bad stand-ins, but they're a long way from perfect. To me, they look like Madame Tussauds waxworks brought to life - close, but no cigar. Record, pause, play slowly.....you'll soon see the obvious differences.

:D :D :D

Vic

Thanks Vic. I was kind of hoping that it was some out-takes that were from the photo shoot, but you know, there's a "feeling" when looking at it that doesn't ring true. I can't explain it. I think it's cool anyway. I hope it's on Youtube. Must look.

Search and Find Mission accomplished:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-qt5szlQ_U

George's hair is wrong when he's looking at the guitar handed to him. His hair was a more even and longer length on the Abbey Road cover, since it was just before ATMP, and tucked behind his ears; John's grin and laugh doesn't seem right from all the photos I've ever seen (of course, what do I know... I wondered if the vid was real  ). From :00 - :06 could have been from the photo/video shoot for the album; George's hair is correct. The vid gets a whole different feel at :07 compared to :00 - :06.

I just think the whole thing is fascinating (can ya tell?).

I read jason's post and I have to agree completely with his assesment of the Beatles and I'm one of the older people. The Beatles enjoyed a very unique time in the industry and it would be difficult to duplicate that again there were just so many things that aligned at the right time when they hit the scene.

But I never found anything mind blowing about the Beatles music it was 60's pop that was it. Twist and Shout.. I wanna hold ur Hand..please. They were kinda like the Monkees with staying power as a matter of fact I think one or two of the Monkees albums sold more than the Beatles...a true testament to great music eh.

I think there's no doubt that they were popular as I think most peple tend to like pop music but that doesn't mean the music was any better than any other artist so don't confuse popularity with good music. But there really is no good/bad music it's all in the ears of the listener and what they like to hear. Most people on this forum consider heavy metal/shredder or rap type music not good music, but all that is is your personal opinion which has nothing to do with the music itself and because you don't think it's good does that make your opinion better than the people that do like it?

And why are the Beatles so high in the UK now...MARKETING... you can't look anywhere right now without seeing advertisements for Rock band etc., do you think that might have anything to do with it? Except they're just not as good as Vera Lynn though.

That's the reason I believe that they were CG'd. The faces don't quite look right to me, and even with a stand in there are some facial features that you will see that really can't be copied on CG. I've look alot of places and there are tons of debates on this very topic of Stand-In vs. CG LOL.
All this attention to historic music and groups is a very good thing in my opinion. I like it. I'll give Rock Band and Guitar Hero a thumbs up for that.
+1 I actually enjoy the games, and yeah, I've even picked up the guitar to learn some of the songs (going through the Mississippie Queen right now on my electric, it's actually alot easier than I thought, still sounds cool though)

Oh, by the way, in the week that the Beatles' albums were re-mastered/re-released, there are four of them in the top 10 of the album charts here in the UK.....Sgt Pepper is #5, Abbey Road #6, Revolver #9, and Rubber Soul #10. And the #1 album this week? Vera Lynn's Greatest Hits....hell, she was old when I was a kid. Goes back to what CNev said a while back in this thread....."who'll be listening to the Beatles in 50 years?" - it's well over 60 years since "White Cliffs Of Dover" was recorded and Dame Vera was the "Forces Sweetheart" during the second world war.....but like I said, it just goes to show good music will never die. That was the music my mum and dad - hell, that was the music my gran and grandad used to listen to! What's next - the Glenn Miller revival? He's never been officially declared dead, you know - still MIA......

I seriously don't think we've ever had a 92-year-old chart-topper before........I might be wrong, though!

OK - on a related (Beatles) subject, I'm off to opinions and polls.......

:D :D :D

Vic
