Just catching up and seeing how great everyone is doing with their health and fitness programs! Congratulations, losers!

I got on the scale first time this morning and am down 15 lbs. Still got another 20 to go.

Still walking 2 miles daily on the treadmill (listening to lots of great music in the process!) and working on making healthy food choices.

Trying out a little Body Ball work and Pilates for toning and stretching. Have to kick myself to stick with those parts of the program. :?

Keep it up, everybody!

Margaret

15 lbs is great. People should be starting to take notice.

I've been riding a lot lately and I think my muscle mass is increasing. I've got to do some pushups or I'll look as lopsided as popeye's forearms. %Body Fat is down another percent but my weight is only down 1 pound for the week... I think. I'll see at tomorrow's weigh in.

Just in case anyone needs any reminding, the pool season starts in two weeks.

30 down so far.

Nick and Margaret You guys are doing super! Margaret pretty soon you'll be getting the old Where Is the Best Place to ride "come on" in the grocery store lineup like our admin does (g) Kind of a cool feeling though eh Nick? Funny how a liitle ego boost from time to time fuels the next push to do better.

That's a good one, Robbie!

I doubt anyone will ever mistake me for an athlete of any kind, but as long as they don't ask me where to get the best doughnuts in town, I'll be happy! :D

Seeing as this is a guitar forum, I know I'm not the only one round here that uses music to get the muscles moving for exercise. 8)

This morning getting on the treadmill, I felt tired and thought it was going to be a take-it-easy on myself workout. But then I chose just the right CD to listen to, and pushed my speed higher than ever before and it was a great workout.

[The CD is the soundtrack from the movie Holes (great movie, and kids love it, too) and it has some of the BEST funkin' groovin' tunes from artists I'd never heard of before this CD. Eels, North Mississippi All-Stars, Little Axe, D-Tent Boys, Moby, Pepe Deluxe, etc. Music I'd never have given a chance if I hadn't heard it here. This CD is one of my all-time faves, and has stood the test of time.]

Guess my points are: 1) Whatever the question, music is the answer! Especially when it comes to motivating the workout, and 2) Stretch your musical horizons and you might find some really cool stuff out there.

Oh, and found this little song (apparently sung as a round) in my son's school papers today:

Music Alone Shall Live

All things shall perish from under the sky.
Music, alone shall live,
Music, alone shall live,
Music, alone shall live, never to die!

OK, I'm sounding manic now, so I'll go. Must be the endorphins.

Hey people, hows it going?

I know I haven't been around for a while but I needed to get my life and health back on track. Check this out!!! In the last 3 weeks I have lost 10lbs, 2% body fat and almost 3 inches off my waist. My caloric intake is 2400 cal a day and the weight is coming off nicely. I quit taking my blood pressure medication because my pressure was getting too low(101/69). My energy has really increased 10 fold.

Good luck to all of you, and give me a shout if you want to know how to take it off without starving. BTW starving yourself makes you lose muscle and slows your metabolism down and actually hinders weight lose.

PS, gonna start playing again in about 3 weeks.

Welcome back! Nice results I must say. You seem to know the essentials to losing weight that a lot of people often times overlook. Your not starving yourself. 2400 calories a day is a great point to be, it's healtier then both 1500 or 4800. Are you exercising? If so what kind? Depending on your weight now, you could be thinking about trading the fat for muscle soon with that calorie number.

As always Nick, congrats. Have fun shopping man!

Well, Just so everyone knows, if you don't already know, I wrestle. I'm 16, 5'6" and 220 pounds. I can Military Press 250 on a good day, 230 on a bad. (Military press is a bench, but dirrectly overhead, while sitting up). I also play football.

Heres a picture of me in my tux for junior prom. I have to wear a size 50 because of my shoulders. So the chest area is a bit decieving. They moved the button, but it didn't help enough.

Anywho, I'm doing my best to get stronger, and technique strong for my senior year. Both my friend and I started wrestling obiese in 7th grade, and now we are both fit to some extent, him more than I. He is over 6 foot and 190 pounds, with little to no fat, depending how far into the season it is.

So I guess I'll try to loose some of my gut just to join the fun, and drop back down to 36 pants. I miss wearing them.

Hey Duffmaster! Welcome to our little GN fitness party.

Your prom photo looks great! Hope you had a good time. My daughter just went to her prom a couple weeks ago, too.

Being young and fit, you have an edge on some of us frequenting this thread. Many of us are nearing the top or even a wee bit "over the hill". So you can probably show us how it's done.

I'm doing 4 day's cardio, 45 min and then some abs machines. 2 days weight training and I take off Sundays. And a drum roll please..... 6 meals a day, 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fats!

The folks over at http://www.forum.bodybuilding.com have great advice on what I'm doing.... Check it out if your interested.

Doing great Nick, keep it up bud.

Thats great to here. I had similar numbers in diet and and I trianed 3 days on weeks. But then I got caught in a bad rut or sinus infections and flus and it held up my training. I'm starting again, today actually, I've slowly been bringing my diet back up to par before I get back into the hard exercise.

Looking sharp Duffmaster. You remind me of this guy in my town who also plays guitar. Same hair and colouring I think. Hope you had a good time at your prom man!

Interesting approach.

I'm doing the lifestyle change thing rather than approach this as a diet or workout. I don't think I could maintain what you are doing.

What I'm doing is:

1. Keeping track of what I eat and when
2. Recognizing what a portion size is
3. I won't eat stupid food like McDonald's fries or KFC chicken skin
4. I drink 3-4 glasses of water every day
5. I don't do the Pavlovian thing of eating when the bell rings. For me the bells are when I'm tired, bored, or in a social setting. I just eat when I'm hungry.
6. I stop eating when I'm not hungry, not when I'm full.
7. I think when I want to eat about what I'm going to eat.
8. Incorporating activity into my everyday routine. Hence the biking. I suck at going to the gym.

That's it. I haven't dieted at all. I eat whatever I want, whenever I want. I realize there is a cost involved with eating cheesecake or tiramisu, but if I want it it's all mine.
