Do you play guitar?
yes
no
(i know this is kind of a stupid question, but its required)

When playing acoutsic guitar, if needed, do you sometimes find it hard to play certain frets because of the body shape?
yes
no

Are some chord shapes hard to play because of body shape or any other factors?
yes
no

For both of the above, some notes/shapes are harder to play in high positions because of fret placement, but that's the nature of getting pitches from vibrating strings - it's nothing that can be "designed around". Body size and shape can help getting high notes on treble strings, but experience and fingering choice plays a big role.

Would a guitar with a large cut away near the botom of the neck provide better reach to the bottom frets and make chord shapes easier to play?
yes
no

cutaways obviously help reach higher notes. But in general, they don't help a great deal with chords - chords voiced high on the neck usually need to be done on just the three or four treble strings because of fret placement and string inharmonicity, neither of which is solved by easier reach.

What is your personal opinion of the Ibanez Iceman body shape?
(rate it 5 being the best and 1 being the worst)
1
2
3
4
5

it's visually interesting, but I don't like the "hook" on the horn

How do you think an acoustic guitar shaped like the Iceman would play/sound
(rate it 5 being the best and one being the worst, please give reason)
1
2
3
4
5

acoustic guitars have their traditional shape/sizes to reinforce the vibration of the air inside the body at specific frequencies - that's why dreadnoughts tend to weight more toward the bass end than parlor styles. Given the angles on the horn, the narrow horn, the near right angle of the upper bout, I'd be concerned about destructive interference of the sound waves in the body. (The peak at the end pin probably won't matter - I assume the end pin block will straighten it out inside the body.) Body depth, top thickness, and sound hole shape/placement are also going to have a big effect, because these factors impact both body resonance and Helmholz frequency. You might be able to solve some of these problems by constructing an inner shell, which would make it heavier than typical. That brings in other design elements too, because you'll have additional points for mechanical coupling and vibration transfer to the back and sides.

What is your preference on wood for acoustic guitars?
(tell all that apply)
Spruce
Mahogany
Maple
Other ___________________ (please state)

spruce or cedar is usually chosen for the top of an acoustic guitar, because the cell structure is very regular. Some pieces are better than others, but overall they're more predictable than hardwoods (I've included mahogany because one of my acoustics has a mahogany top and I love it - but in general any hardwood is going to have more tone variation than a softwood, so quality control would be an issue. Although maple is considered a tonewood, you usually see it on less desirable orchestral instruments (like "starter" cellos) - or on instruments that are designed to be played amplified, as in hollow body or semi-hollow body electrics. If that's what you're going for, maple would also be fine, as would a lot of other species... but if you're looking to build a true acoustic guitar, I'd stick with a softwood top
