But that's me and it doesn't matter.

I'd love to have the skill of Hendrix or EVH but I never liked Van Halen music much either. I realize from a technical standpoint Cobain wasn't much of a guitar player but the music Nirvana made was great, at least to me.

Sometimes I don't really know what I like it just seems to happen and it's rarely because of what the guitar player does. That must sound kind of odd from someone that plays guitar but I never said I was normal :D

Well yeah it's silly really........ I mean who is good is so personal to each of us anyway....... Hendrix will always be my biggest inspiration. I thought his guitar playing was out of this world when I first heard it (still do actually) and I knew I wanted to play guitar. Kurt Cobain also made me want to play guitar because I loved how heavy and angry he made it sound but once I learnt I could play Hendrix stuff my focus fell to that and other people from his era like pink floyd, Led Zep and Cobain became a smaller part of what I wanted to play like.

The unsung hero in my life is Brian May though, because I listened to him from a very very young age and he's still with me. I don't really know how to play a lot of his solos, but somehow just in the back of my mind he's always there. I have started to learn more of his stuff (little attempts here and there) but I dont think I'll ever capture his sound so it leaves me feeling a bit like "Why bother?". I think the man is a genius, definately one of the best.
