You can get some excellent sounds out of the hollowbody guitars. I'd be working on that one first.

The semi-hollow is gonna be a pain in the butt to upgrade the electronics because there is no back plate to access the pots and pickups. In other words, you have to fish all the wires out through the pickup routing. There's only one pickup variable that relates to price or build quality, and that's microphonicity.
