Probably just Nick cleaning up again. :)

Yep, on a fairly irregular basis I clean up the top of Games and Trivia. That's all. No other forums are ever touched.
We get a tremendous number of one word replies in the word game that makes pages and pages of posts for the forum to track and index and an incredible search buster in the lyric association forum with pages upon pages of full lyrics that the search engine has to index. It really does slow searches down.
So if you posted a bunch in any of those top four or five games, that's why.
I do it so that searches for specific guitar playing topics will be faster.
Try it now and you'll see it is quite a bit more snappy.
So my apologies for the decrease in post count, but you'll be back up again in no time.
BTW, I'm not hallucinating. Try a search on "Bone" or "Tusq" or fingerpicking. The response is lightning quick now.
A minute or two ago it was taking 45 seconds to return the same thing. That's how I judge when to clean up, when searches begin to bug me.
I think they didn't like your avatar,I'm not paranoid gn is watching me ;0)

If you haven't used search you must. You'll be amazed. It's one of the best features on guitarnoise.
Try searching on:
best books beginner
best guitar beginner
hammer on
You want to see all of the songs in the easy song database by an artist?
Go to search
type in the artists name in the search field
Click on the second radio button "search for all terms"
Select Forum "Easy Songs"
Click search, and looky what you've got.
Now say you find a tab by mattguitar or vic lewis or wes that you really like.
Go back and do the same thing except select the author you want in the field and in the forum field select easy song.
That shows you everything they ever tabbed out. How's that?
After you see the tremendous volumes of information you can get from the search engine, you'll see why I want to take care of it.
I was wondering how long till Nick did some cleaning.
Now I know.

Everything is 42..... again.
Nick,
Thanks for the little lesson on how to use the search. 8) I'm definately going to use it more now, especially on the ESD like you suggested. :D I'd tried using the search once or twice, but it was always bringing up tons of stuff that didn't relate. Thanks for cleaning up!

I checked it out, and while I suspected Nick was a lair who just wanted to flex his muscle on the games and trivia forum, the search is lightning quick now. :D
Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.
I'll second the thanks to Nick on the lesson on the search feature.
Makes GN even more valuable. Although I didn't think that was possible.

I think we should delete the first 8 pages of the "I Win" game. Does people read past the first page? Does people read the first page?
I can understand the reasoning for the deletions.
In my own weird way I like keeping the old just to see how a thread grows.
Idle minds need activity and stimulation. Especially mine. Easy to please and easy to entertain.
On a side note, does anyone know why flamingos turn pink? :D

car·o·tene
Pronunciation: 'kar-&-"tEn
Function: noun
Etymology: International Scientific Vocabulary, from Late Latin carota carrot
: any of several orange or red crystalline hydrocarbon pigments C40H56 that occur in the chromoplasts of plants and in the fatty tissues of plant-eating animals and are convertible to vitamin A
i took a tour of sea world in SD cal and the tour bimbo actually asked the group if they "knew why flamingos stood on one leg?"
even tho my wife scoweled at me knowing what was to come i answered anyway,
"because if they picked up their other leg they would fall?"
sorry i couldn't resist
