A guy I know is looking for recommendations for a beginners acoustic guitar - he's never played before, but plays violin. He's interest in jam-band type music like Phish, and doesn't want to spend more than a few hundred bucks.

I've been so out of this scene that I don't even know what people say is good anymore, so I come here.
