I have alot of obvious favorites that I've repeated over and over:

Stevie Ray Vaughan
Led Zeppelin
John Frusciante
Metallica
Tom Morello

but I've really started discovering how great simple music can be: I've really been getting into the Foo Fighters: Great lyrics, great simple music and surprisingly diverse. As well, I've gotten alot of respect for Jack White and the White Stripes, in my opinion, I think they are really simple but have this sort of musical fearlessness. Whenever Melody was working late, and I had to put Harmony to bed (9 at the time), I always sang her 'In Dreams'
for a lullaby.
I only intended to do the begining, though she would always beg me to do the whole song :D
It was the only song I could come up with for a lullaby, and she never got sick of it. :)

To save writing half of them out again I'll just agree with you all and then tack on a couple more personal favourites who I didn't spot already:

Roy Orbison - Still one of the most awesome voices of all time, any genre. Wrote some great songs too. Might not exactly seem 'current', but Roy never died, he simply relocated. 8) That's actually Roy in the cool smilie.. 8)

Mark Knopfler - Always liked his stuff. Versatile writer and lyricist too.

Tom Waits - In a class all by himself. :wink:
