I was also considering the new Digitech. I only use it for improvising over chord progressions that I previously record over the drum track. When I record songs or tracks for collaborations I use my computer. I only put in my pedalboard when I use it (usually I don't use pedals, only the cable).

The new Digitech has more features than the Boss but the Boss is more than enough for me and the Digitech is twice expensive.

I borrowed a looper from a friend and really liked how I could lay down a chord progression and then improvise over that. Now I see a lot of models to choose from. I am leaning toward a Digitech over a Boss so far. Have any of you guitarist used a looper and what success have you had with it? Does it help with your playing? I would like to hear from your own experience on using them, I can really do without, but it seemed that it would be a great practice aid for timing.http://www.digitech.com/products/Pedals/JamMan.php This link shows the particular model I am interested in. Thanks.
