I wanted to work Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (41 minutes) in, but it's such a complete song it wouldn't go with anything else.

Before I list the songs, I will say that the Love Over Gold CD by Dire Straits is perfect for the long song. Aside from Industrial disease, the other 4 songs are long fill it up rather nicely. Gotta be in a mellow mood though. I agree! And also Alchemy! :D

First I also included Brothers In Arms in my list but I changed it. As the idea is the songs maintain a coherence between them I prefered 'older ones'. But we can add a new Knopfler list, for example, with Going Home (4'58").

Well, this one is tough as most of these lists are for me. There goes Vic trying to make me think again.

Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve (odd and long story behind this one, but Jagger and Richards now have the song writing credits to this one)
Sympathy For The Devil - Rolling Stones (prefer the live version they've been doing recently)

Midnight Rambler- Let It Bleed Rolling Stones The Stones have done some great live version of that song over the years - I'm surprised, though, that you picked the original version. Especially as you picked "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" as one of your top 5 albums! I consider the version on Ya-Ya's the definitive version, and if there's a better live album than that, I've yet to hear it!
