So the features that had been built into the new emedia 1 (interactive fretboard, etc.) found their way into the next level.

What I liked was the breaking down into very small steps - one lesson is hammer-on - and for each lesson you have examples and pieces of music that it fits into. At the end of each chapter (=several lessons), you get references (on OLGA) to music (real tunes!) that match the type of stuff you've learnt and the level that you have reached.

My advice is to look for one on ebay and save the $30 towards something else.

Greybeard,

Can I get your honest opinion, from a buyers point of view, about the method 2. Because everyone at amazon pretty much said exactly what you said about the emedia series, but condemned the method 2. They were extremely happy with method 1 and the Intermediate, but had an awful taste of method 2. I'm the kind of person that's happy when I learn one or two things from a 19.99 book, but 50 to 60 bucks, I expect much more and would rather learn it along the way. I don't think it's fair for loyal people of a series to get jipped in the second one. And leading people in the right way will only solidify good will and stature. :)

I looked at the 2nd version of emedia 1 and have the whole package of emedia 2, the forerunner to intermediate.

Whatever the reviews on Amazon - and I started out with a very negative attitude to what I received - the package does achieve it's goal IMHO simply by breaking everything down into tiny bite sized chunks. You don't have to learn much to achieve success - maybe a hammer-on or pull-off - but you do achieve success and you do move on to the next stage, without having your ego dented by huge leaps into uncharted territory.

You do improve and you do learn, so in my book they did what they set out to do, more you can't ask.
