You ever listen to Derek Trucks? Something in your attack and phrasing reminds me of him, the way your slide hits the strings and the way you pick and inflect.

What sort of slide do you favor? What brand and type of strings?

Now, that's played in Dropped-D, as in "Standard" but with the 6th-string tuned down to D, correct?

Oh, yeah; that's basically similar to B.B. King's "The Thrill (Is Gone)", right? I don't happen to have a copy of that tune on anything right now; is that in the same key as the original (assuming I'm right in the first place), or do you know off the top of your head? (I was wondering if the original was in the horn-friendly key of Bbm, instead of the more guitar-friendly key of Bm.)

I use heavy brass slides I have made for me. They're a shorter length than usual as I always play in dropped D and I don't need the full 6 string span.

I'm not sure where that came from, I'm afraid, but it's not one of mine. I'm still at an embryonic stage when it comes to putting together midi files, if indeed it is midi.

I played that on my Strat (strung 16 18 24 34 44 54) into a RP100 modelling thingo, factory setting number 3, into Adobe Audition on my PC.

The backing-track is way cool fun to jam over, regardless of the way one plays (slide, fretted, etc.).
