From where you started to where Pbee and Joe took it is definitely where you need to be going with your songs. And that's why this group is so good because it's easier to work with someone else's start and move it along than it is to be alone n your room trying to make something work with no help. We are a support group for each other :wink: a cheap alternative to therapy! Having said that I thought what you had was a great start.

At this point I will own up and say this how I start to write a song , the last couple just have not got away from the dot point status , which I understand it can be alot more interesting if I would turn it into what your saying ..

My challenge is to stop posting this style in the future and elaborate more with verses and stop useing the chorus as a filler like I have done recently ...

It is easier to write in dot point though :lol:

That must mean I can still tinkle a little bit with it so you already know what Im going to say. :D

I think Neil took the words out of my mouth, too many choruses mate.

This song writing stuff is an interesting journey, I think there comes a point where we get comfortable in the formular that works and maybe are a little reluctant to try something else, all I can say is DO IT, step out of the comfort zone.

Just taking one of your verses, if you took each of those points and linked them together you can end up with something that is more than just the sum of the the lines.
For example: Our hearts grow older
Our memories get colder
Still yearning to hold her here are three separate ideas (dot points), but if you link them together you get something like this.
But though hearts grow older
and memories get colder
If find myself still looking
Still yearning to hold her

The difference is that now the whole verse is a point in it owns right, there is now some context around the the three ideas.

Other than that (which you new I was going to say anyway) this is good 8) , and has potential

You always know when I 'm struggling with a new verse as I continually throw in the chorus after every verse ..

I think we're all from left field here anyway, so nothing is out of the ordinary . . . . .

In a nutshell, I like this one alot. I think you show a lot of progress as far as song construction goes and the sentiment speaks for itself. I like what you're saying in the verses . . . . I'd just like you to draw this song out a little more so you can cut down on the chorus a little. In simpler terms, more verses, less chorus.

Still, well done for a grandpa! And I know you're working on an MP3 for us to listen to soon, right?
