Welcome to the SSG.

Normally I would move this on to the other forum but there's some good feedback here that works for everyone so I'm going against my usual principles and leaving it here.

As Vic says you just have to keep working at it. I find (when I actually do write) that taking time in between first draft and editing gives me a fresh perspective. If it doesn't make sense when I come back to it then it needs work. To be fair this does result in a lot of abandoned or half finished projects.

Keep going and feel free to join in the upcoming assignments - posted here every Sunday.

You need to work on your meter, and you need to expand your vocabulary, work a little harder on your rhymes....but hey, you had the guts to post your song, so respect for that....!!!!

You'll find that songwriting is a lot like schoolwork, the more of the basics you can take in the better you'll do it...

Maybe you could re-write this, without tampering too much....you can always do what Pete Brown did when he wrote lyrics for Clapton and Bruce, use a thesaurus.....

But it's a very promising start, keep at it....who knows eh?

Oh and welcome to GN by the way....you'll find we criticise, but in a friendly way....people on this site generally want to help and offer encouragement to up-and-coming talent....

So stick at it, don't be disheartened because your first post didn't get rave reviews....like I said, you've obviously got some songwriting talent there, you just need to work at it....
