No Chris,

I agree completely. Someone told me about some stupid contest to write about your dog, and I wrote a song, more for the challenge, and fun of it than anything. Then when I actually thought about submitting, I read the rules and saw that I'd have to sign away all rights, and as silly a song as it was, somehow the thought of doing so made even the possibility of winning $250,000 not as appealing, particularly when there was the possibility that all you might win is a $7.50 coupon for toilet paper, and not even get the credit for your own work. There's something criminally wrong with that. Maybe my songs won't ever be on the list of greatest hits, but there are some pretty crappy songs that are, and on the off chance that something I write actually does make it, I'd hate to have to live with the fact that I created something good that will make someone else millions and never even be recognized as mine. That would really suck.

Joe
