It's a country style acoustic song in 4:4
The first 3 lines of the verse are straightforward but from then on the first word or 2 of the next line falls on the 4th beat of the bar. So for the rest of the verse the strong first beat of the bar actually coincides with the second or third word of the line. There is very little pause between the lines of the verse.
The chorus also runs slightly off the beat but is slower
The accent is on Blue then Beautiful, Open then Such.
Its all alot more difficult to write about than to sing.
Suffice to say it does actually fall into a natural rhythm but I agree it looks pretty wierd written down.

The content of the song is great, but there are a few things that are niggling me....
The rhyming pattern is very complex, so it is hard to get a good meter or rhythm going, maybe if you can tell me what style you sing it in, or play it in it would help.
I love the line....He asked you the time and it might have stopped there ... really excellent

I know the whole blue thing is quite a cliche but when it came to writing this song it just seemed to be the only colour that made any sense.
